MSRC has an opening for a Field Network System Specialist (FNSS) in Richmond, California, who is ready to start their career with the leader in the oil spill response industry. We are looking for a qualified individual who can provide computer network and communication services in support of regional and corporate activities. The individual needs to be quality-oriented, independent self-starter and able to deliver installation/operation/troubleshooting with minimal supervision.

Requirements of the position:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • CCNA certification preferred
  • CCNA Voice, Security Plus, CCNA Cloud preferred
  • CISCO hardware (router/switch/AP/wireless controller) and IOS familiarity
  • 4+ years of field experience
  • Valid driver’s license

Employment is contingent upon:

  • a successful background check,

  • obtaining a TWIC card and Passport

Responsibilities:

  • Install, operate, and maintain:
    • LAN/WAN networks
    • Cisco Call Manager
    • Unity Voice Mail and Presence servers
    • Cisco routing, switching and VoIP
    • VoIP phone systems and associated equipment
  • Provide secondary radio, satellite transmission equipment, and desktop support
  • Installation experience with network services, such as DSL, T1, or Ethernet over copper
  • Experience in a multidiscipline Information System Department, including network administration and computer data infrastructure would be preferred
  • Ability to design/install/monitor a temporary network for 200-400 users, including networking wireless, and power distribution. Ability to communicate/coordinate installation and operation of the network with a team of 5-10 personnel.
  • During oil spill response operations, the FNSS will be required to set up, operate, and maintain a mobile communications van housing satellite, network, and radio equipment

  • Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical personnel in layman’s terms
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain current with changing technology
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Availability to report to the work location within a 2-hour recall notice and potentially travel to emergency response locations for an extended period of time.  Occasionally employees will be required to work during weekends and holidays.

Can you perform the required physical aspects of the job?

Among a number of other physical requirements, this position requires standing, and lifting up to 45lbs.
