MSRC is seeking an energetic and resourceful Division Accountant who will be responsible for reviewing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policy, assisting with the preparation and entry of the budget, generating financial analyses and reports, and identifying recommendations for cost savings. This individual also assists the Division Controller with financial support during customer spills, exercises and other customer activities. This position may be responsible for facility administrative tasks in their office location and features a hybrid remote work schedule.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES- Embrace MSRC’s mission to provide our customers with effective and efficient oil spill and emergency response services while keeping safety and readiness as top priorities.
- Assist with the preparation and ongoing monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Enter transactions in MSRC financial systems, including Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Reporting, and Fixed Asset Systems.
- Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy and adherence to company policies and guidelines, ensuring timely review and processing of transactions.
- Assist the Division Controller with physical inventories of fixed assets and with additions, disposals, and transfers.
- Assist Division Controller with preparation of invoices for customer billable activities.
- Manage facility related office operations, including property management, office equipment, access system, office supplies, and mail.
- As required by MSRC site/location: plan, organize and participate in customer drills and training events. Ensure corresponding communications with customers and regulatory agencies is complete and appropriate information sources are updated.
- Other additional assignment, as needed, including providing backup support to other Division Accountants.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Five years progressive accounting work experience. Experience in oil spill response industry a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of budgeting and forecasting.
- Experience with accounting software. Knowledge of Great Plains, Activreporter, or Quickbooks a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills, including vlookup, pivot tables, and other data validation techniques, and proficient with other Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Teams).
- Strong organizational skills including attention to detail, ability to prioritize and plan, and problem solving.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with internal and external contacts, and the ability to maintain positive working relationships with customers. Clear and concise written and verbal communication style.
To successfully fulfill the job responsibilities described above, this position is required to:- Have sufficient credit to meet the travel/cascading requirements of the position. A Company-sponsored credit card is available for this purpose and must be maintained pursuant to policy.
